James trained in teaching yoga and hot yoga in Cambridge, having come to Cambridge University to study psychology. He has all the energy and excitement of a teacher who’s keen to share his love and enthusiasm for many styles of yoga. James’s own practice is borne out of a long struggle earlier in his life with life-threatening health problems, when his encounter with yoga was a key part of the recovery process. He firmly believes that in the spirit of mindful curiosity, self acceptance and compassion, yoga can benefit people from all walks of life. Expect James’ classes to focus on individual exploration and growth, emphasising an awareness of the present moment and postural alignment, often using eclectic soundtracks and dynamic sequencing to challenge all abilities.

James has experienced a major eating disorder from the age of 16 and although now well into recovery, he faced many barriers and a six year wait to access specialist treatment. He now works as a volunteer to develop eating disorders services, campaigns for changes in policy and awareness.

Breathe and Flow via Dynamic Vinyasa with James

Join this energising, dynamic vinyasa flow yoga class that aims to incorporate breath work for connection with mind, body and soul. Taught by Cambridge-based vegan Yoga instructor, James, this class will involve stringing postures together, so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using the breath.

In vinyasa yoga, each movement is synchronized to a breath. The breath is given primacy, acting as an anchor as you move from one pose to the next. The variable nature of Vinyasa Yoga helps to develop a more balanced body as well as prevent repetitive motion injuries that can happen if you are always doing the same thing every day.
