Andy Oakey, The Sustainable Chef

Recipe Developer & Sustainability Educator

Andy Oakey is The Sustainable Chef, an idea designed to help people cook and eat in a lower impact way. After going plant-based in 2019, he started to get experimental with food. The COVID-19 lockdown then hit, and this gave the opportunity to write ideas down and share them in the form of a cook book titled “The Sustainable Chef”. Every recipe is designed to be fully achievable by all, and feature a Carbon Impact Check to see how your cooking is making a difference.

Debuting at the Bournemouth Foodies Festival in 2021, Andy has since been demonstrating and discussing easy ways to reduce your environmental impact and, more than often, save some money. In 2022, he has been touring the country to share his knowledge, including the BBC Good Food Summer Show, and Foodies food festivals.

By day, Andy is a full-time researcher at the University of Southampton, and in his free time he trains and competes in triathlons.
