Animal Liberation Campaigner

Dan is a campaigner, social movement researcher, trainer and animal lover. He is a co-founder of Animal Think Tank, a collective which seeks to develop and share knowledge about how to build an inclusive and strategic mass movement for animal liberation. He was a deckhand during Operation Nemesis, Sea Shepherd’s most recent anti-whaling mission in Antarctica and he has been active in various social justice movements ranging from free education, climate justice, the rights of indigenous people and more. He also co-manages the FB page Animal Resistance [https://www.facebook.com/Animal-Resistance-274600716411737/] which aims to centre animals in their liberation movement.

How to Achieve Animal Liberation: Lessons from the Civil Rights Movement

This talk will look at the Civil Rights Movement and the work of Martin Luther King Jr., Diane Nash and other brilliant activists to see what made the movement such a phenomenal success. We will then draw lessons for the Animal Rights Movement in order to figure out what we need to do to liberate animals from oppression.

Animal Resistance

Animals resist every day. Sharing their stories is moving, inspiring and enriches our animal advocacy and campaigning. This talk will share some particularly poignant stories and then explore why sharing stories of animal resistance is a moral obligation, an expression of true solidarity and strategically essential to achieving animal liberation.
