EUROPE'S BIGGEST VEGGIE FESTIVALS TO CONTINUE GROWING IN 2014
MARCH 29TH 30TH AT HOVE CENTRE BRIGHTON
MAY 23RD 24TH 25TH AT BRISTOL AMPHITHEATRE
VegfestUK - Europe's biggest and best veggie lifestyle shows - are back in Brighton and Bristol in next year, with dates already announced and websites now live for bookings. With over 135 stalls full of mouthwatering food alongside fashion, cosmetics and bodycare, plus inspiring dietary tips from talks, cookery demos, workshops, films and kids' cookery classes on top of great live comedy and music, these two shows are certain to attract not only veggies but all food and festival lovers.
"Since our shows began back in 2003, we've always strived to maintain a balance between festival charm and food education, and that has proved to be very attractive for the veggie-curious and the meat reducers, who have been growing in leaps and bounds for the past decade," say the organisers. "VegfestUK gives everyone a top day out while getting across the benefits of increasing their fruit, veg and grain intake and reducing their meat and dairy, in a very informal and friendly atmosphere. The best thing is: no one is under pressure to go veggie at all. People can just come down to our festivals, sample a myriad of quality, healthier plant-based substitutes for their customary sausages, doner kebabs, chicken nuggets, milkshakes and pizzas, enjoy the festival capers, then make their own dietary decisions afterwards."
The Brighton show, entering its 6th year in 2014, will take place on March 29th 30th at the Hove Centre. In the wake of the horsemeat scandal, the 2013 show attracted a record-breaking 7,200 visitors over 2 days. 2013 highlights included attendance by presenters Janey Lee Grace (BBC Radio 2) and Sarah Jane Honeywell, a speed-dating session, a bodybuilders' competition and plenty of family-friendly kids' cookery classes and other fun activities. With the sharp rise in health consciousness in recent years, the strong attendance figures look set to continue at the nation's veggie capital next March. Admission is £2 for adults (pay on gate), and free for under 16's. Further info at www.brighton.vegfest.co.uk
Meanwhile, VegfestUK Bristol will enter its 11th year on the bank holiday weekend of May 23rd 24th 25th 2014, at the Amphitheatre on Bristol Harbourside. The 2013 show attracted a whooping 20,000 visitors over 3 days, who were treated to not just salivating food and life-changing dietary info during the day, but also fantastic music in the evenings from the Happy Mondays, Caravan Palace, the Abyssinians and other guests. With two-thirds of the visitors who ate meat and dairy indicating a desire to choose more plant-based food options afterwards, and a host of captivating headliners to be confirmed for 2014, the stock for this veggie and music feast has never been higher. Admission on May 24th 25th is £3 before 5pm, and £5 afterwards (pay on gate), and £10 on May 23rd. Find out more at www.bristol.vegfest.co.uk
