Appearing on Saturday in the Vegan Athletes Summit
Originally from Johannesburg, I have been living and working in the fitness industry on the Isle of Man for 12 years. I have worked as a qualified life guard, a gym instructor, gym manager and personal trainer. Now currently qualified in level 3 personal training and nutrition, I have opened my own business. I work with small and large businesses to boost staff wellness through ‘Stretch to De-stress’. I love training and helping people to achieve their goals.
Following a life-long passion for bodybuilding I did my first show 2011. I worked my way up to winning my first show in 2013 where I had the honour of having Barny Du Plessis help me with my prep. Then I competed in the WABBA MR Universe and world champs placing within the top 6 at both shows.
Early 2016, I was approached by James Wilks from the USA asking me to feature in a documentary called ‘The Game Changers’ executive produced by James Cameron (Avatar, Terminator, Titanic) and Oscar-winning film maker Louie Psihoyos (The Cove, Racing Extinction). The documentary is based on people changing their diet and life style to Vegan. I was referred by good friend Barny Du Plessis, 2014 Mr Universe, who is vegan. My wife, Laura, had recently become vegan (having been vegetarian for twenty years) and was extremely keen to support me. I took on the opportunity of a lifetime and worked with a team for 5 months. My coach Josie Du Plessis pushed me to the limit to compete at the WABBA Amateur Grand Prix where I took the title first place in the men’s tall class. Bringing the best package of my life to the show, feeling healthier and better than ever, vegan was definitely the future of sports and life style. Now 6 months vegan and learning more than ever. As I gain more and more knowledge I am motivated to show the world that it is the best lifestyle to live with my physique as living proof that you can do it and do it better.
