Chef, founder of Sutra Kitchen
Hosting all cookery demos both days, and doing his own cookery demo on Sunday Oct 6th at 4pm in the Cookery Demos Theatre
Jay Morjaria is founder and Executive Chef of Sutra Kitchen, Central London's first meat free cooking school located in Carnaby St, London.
Chef Jay has a passion for healthy, globally inspired food and making it widely accessible; he regularly appears on BBC Radio London as a guest chef and food expert and was on Radio 4 doing a breakfast cook off with Chef Giancarlo Caldesi earlier this year. Additionally he is also hosting the Cookery Demonstration Theatre at VegfestUK 2013 in Brighton, Bristol and London and has been doing live cooking demonstrations at the Chef's Theatre for the Real Food Festival, Alchemy Festival and the Natural Organic Show. He is also confirmed for the Foodies Festival in June alongside the likes of Jun Tanaka, Shelina Permalloo and Ed Baines.
He prides himself on creating innovative dishes using unique flavour combinations and bringing vegetables to the centre stage. His recent demonstrations have included dishes such as butter poached radishes with a cauliflower aioli, aubergine steaks marinated in smoked paprika with a fennel and wild garlic salsa and a beetroot and orange carpaccio with a pistachio crumble.
He believes Vegetarian food can be inspiring and loves the challenge of changing people's perceptions of it; this is evident in his newly launched cookbook ‘Share' which will available in July 2013. ‘Share' is a unique collection of uncomplicated recipes which are truly flexible, allowing the home cook to create a dining experience to share with friends and family.
Furthermore, his cooking school, Sutra Kitchen offers practical, hands-on and affordable classes such as Spanish Tapas, Thai & Oriental, Flavours of India, Middle Eastern, Italian and Raw Vegan and has become a favourite with Vegetarians and non-Vegetarians alike.
As well as managing Sutra Kitchen's corporate team building classes, themed supper clubs and canapé receptions, Chef Jay is also a food consultant and works with well-known brands to advise them how to improve their menus, train their chefs and create innovative dishes for different audiences.
