Brenda Carey is the Editor in Chief of Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine.  As a lifelong athlete and 22-year vegan, she founded this magazine to provide accurate information on vegan health and nutrition on a regular basis, in a easily accessible place.  This is both for the benefit of currently veg-inclined readers as well as non-veg-inclined folks who are often badly misinformed about the vegan diet.  By placing athletic vegans on the cover of each issue, just under the word “vegan” in the title, the hope is to dispel myths about veganism and show the world that it truly is the most optimal diet.  A skilled researcher and a fan of hard evidence, Brenda is a licensed attorney with a background in modeling and photography as well as writing and editing for many newspapers and journals. She has been studying nutrition for over 22 years.  She has also been a certified instructor in swimming, aerobics, Ashtanga yoga, and enjoys running, biking, tennis, and racquetball.  A little over a year prior to starting Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine, she began a daily blog called Female Vegan Bodybuilder in which she chronicled her journey to gain muscle on a vegan diet.  Through that journey she developed a following and met some very influential vegan athletes and was inspired to start this magazine.
